How to Measure Your Vent Cover

The most important step. Follow this every time.

⚠️ Measure the duct opening — not the old coverRemove your existing cover first. Measure the actual hole in the wall or floor.

Remove your existing cover

Unscrew and set aside. Measure the raw duct opening directly.

Measure width x height in inches

Example: 10" x 6". Enter this at checkout. Every cover is cut to your exact dimensions.

Measure in two spots

Older homes can be uneven. Measure top and bottom. Use the larger number if they differ by more than 1/4".

Note your vent type

Supply vent (blows air out) or return grille (pulls air in)? Return grilles must stay fully open — our open laser-cut patterns allow full airflow.

No. Every pattern is an open laser-cut design — air passes freely. We never sell solid panels for active vents.

All covers ship unfinished. For painting: raw plywood or birch. For staining: oak or solid wood. Sand lightly before painting.
